The Candlestick Close 3 - TAS (PB 001741)

Keywords: The Candlestick Close - Tasman Peninsular Close 3 (PB 001741) 7179 Vertical Mitre Peak The Lanterns The Totem Pole Fortescue Bay Mt Fortescue Tasman National Park Munro Bight Cape Hauy

The Candlestick is an impressive rock outcrop approx 95 metres high at the end of Cape Hauy on Tasnamia's southeast coast. Not a walk for the fainthearted, it is not very long in distance but towards the end of the track it becomes very steep and slippery, be warned - one step in the wrong direction and it will be your last... This is a particularly interesting image because towards the bottom of the image a rock climber can be seen on what looks to be park of the Candlestick but is in fact the top of the Totem Pole which is a freestanding finger of dolemite slotted in a chasm between the end of Cape Hauy and The Candlestick. Trust me, just looking at it will make you dizzy...
